Many calls recently about snow removal issues, particularly sidewalks.
Always nice to get a voicemail like this: “…thank you for your prompt and efficient attention to solving my problem.”

Resident of my ward called to inquire about the fine and impound fees paid to retrieve her stray, unlicensed dog from the Humane Society.
Received a phone call yesterday from someone wishing not to be identified who witnessed a police cruiser “callously” speed through a puddle, thereby splashing an elderly woman on the sidewalk.
Have heard from at least two residents recently who are concerned and intimidated by alleged drug dealing and associated disturbing incidents occurring in their neighbourhood.
Received a call from a resident who is concerned with potential privacy issues due to the increasingly common practise of people picking through curbside bluebags looking for returnable beverage containers.
I received an email from a resident who is upset that his neighbours snow clearing contractor is dumping snow onto his property.
Received a call from a woman who was irate over a confrontation she had with other customers lined up in their vehicles at a local coffee shop.
Got a phone call from a man who is actively trying to lease or sell 45,000 sq. ft. of commercial space downtown and he doesn’t want to get caught in any plan by the city to punish vacant property owners.
It’s been a long time since I updated this feature. The calls and emails are coming steadily on a number of issues from snow clearing and drive-thrus, to condos and vacant buildings in the downtown.
A couple of striking members of CUPE Local 501 (Waste Water Treatment Plant) paid me a visit at home yesterday. I had to climb down out of the treehouse I was building in the backyard to listen to their pitch.
Received an email from a resident who feels the bronze chairs installed at Kings Square to honor furniture maker Mark Butcher are unattractive and not worth the cost. I respectfully disagreed in reply.
I haven’t updated this feature recently, but I continue to get a steady stream of calls and emails about a range of issues, including but not limited to: flooding basements, speeding cars, noisy neighbours, next year’s Festival fo Lights, new property developments, garbage pickup, and more.
