5000 Tickets?

Just returned a call I received earlier in the day about the story that was in the paper yesterday, I believe, about the Charlottetown Police Services issuing 5000 tickets last year. The caller, who is concerned about traffic enforcement like many people, found it hard to believe that that many tickets were issued — an average of more than 13 per day.  Promised to look into it.

Well, I live on Confederation Street and I would say the police issued one ticket her last year. This is ridiculous. It’s a 30 km/hr zone, a school zone and a No Through Trucks zone, yet trucks, buses and cars race up and down our street 24/7.
I know this isn’t your ward, and if you ever see David MacDonald at a council meeting, please ask him why he doesn’t return my e-mails. Should I call Bruce Garrity?

Maybe we need the recall option in the city bylaws.
