Hello Gareth,

When you say, "I have had no comment on my comment", I'm not sure if you're referring to me, or to other readers of this website.

Nevertheless, just to clarify, I responded to you by email on April 16th at 7:57am regarding your comment/questions of April 14, 2007 about the fire department and the post retirement pay reserve. You replied, thanked me for my quick response, and asked a further question about loud motorcycles, to which I also replied.

Also, regarding your comment above, of Dec 18th, 2007, concerning media coverage of council meetings, I responded to you the same day with a rather long email (344 words, to be exact). This was the same day you emailed me directly with concerns about the upcoming motorcycle season, and a question about stats on enforcement of noise bylaws. I sent your query to the Chief of Police, and forwarded you his response the next day.

Typically, comments on a blog have some relevance to the topic of a post. If you have questions or concerns about something that is not on this website, please feel free to email directly.

I will re-send a copy of the emails referenced above for your records.

Regards,
-Rob

Hi - I am 'From Away' two years ago ; having spent most of my life in New Brunswick, and having spent several years as as a school board member, it seems strange to me that the local paper and radio do not comment on council and school board meetings.
I recall that we (school board members) had professional councelling so that we would not be drawn into revealing board decisions before the official announcement.

It would be nice if you could advise me of the result of this query.

 - Thanks,, G

Hi, I followed your link to the city budget summary, and found it very interesting. I am impressed that the city allocates 12% of budget to environment, parks and recreation. I am also impressed that we have a volunteer Fire Department. I assume this means that the 'guys on the trucks' are unpaid, even though they must spend their shift time in the fire hall, to be available for quick response. How can they do this? ( OK, I've just gone a bit further into the budget summary; the volunteers appear to be paid something, but not much for benefits.)
With respect to the police accounts, I assume pension funding is included under 'benefits'. In most accounts, there is an item called 'Post Retirement Pay Reserve'. Can you tell me what this is?

Anyway, I find this a very useful web site, and I hope you find the time to utilize it.
